Launching July 2012, a program focused on integrating current and emergent technology tools into classroom instruction prepares teachers to lead 21s -century technology-rich classrooms.

New York, May 02, 2012 – Editure announced today that it has extended its partnership with Old Dominion University to offer an Instructional Technologist Certificate Program beginning in July 2012. The certificate program is designed for school leaders and teachers who want to further their knowledge and skills in the use of technology in teaching PreK-12 students.

The Instructional Technologist Certificate Program includes three courses:

  • Developing Technology-Integrated Units of Study, Student Exemplars and Assessment Rubrics
  • Google Apps for Educators for Classroom Communication, Collaboration and Data-Tracking
  • Students as Digital Content Creators: Differentiating Instruction Using Technology

During each course, participants will create their own digital resources to use in their instructional practice and by the end of the certificate program they will have created their personalized professional learning portfolio that they can put to use immediately in their own classrooms. The courses offered in this program are aligned to the Common Core State Standards and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) National Education Technology Standards.

The noncredit courses, offered online, will be facilitated by an instructor using the Editure PD PRO platform. Educators can enroll in one, two or all three of the five-week courses. This summer the courses will be offered beginning July 9.

“With the nation’s need for certified technologists on the rise in the PreK-12 school environment, the time is optimal for this certificate program,” said Victor Aluise, President of Editure Technology Products and Services. “Educators can hone their skills and earn credit – all in the comfort of their homes. Importantly, educators will be armed with knowledge that they can put to use immediately – and confidently!”

An advanced certificate program is expected to be offered at a later date.
