EDITURE PARTNERS WITH OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY; ANNOUNCES NEW ONLINE COURSE CATALOG TO ADVANCE TEACHER PROFESSIONAL GROWTH, MEET STATE RECERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Launching April 23, 2012, the Editure Professional Courses will help teachers advance professionally at their own pace and on their own schedule.

New York, April 23, 2012 – Editure Professional Development and Old Dominion University today announced a new partnership to offer online continuing education courses targeted at addressing the national need for increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in schools across the country.

This new catalog of courses, named Editure Professional Courses (EPC), will allow teachers to meet their requirements for professional growth while offering them opportunities for salary advancement and continuing certification.

“EPC will be setting new standards for professional development resources,” said Jeffrey Vohden, CEO of Editure Professional Development. “The initial course offering will include online courses in literature, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education and the arts. Teachers can earn up to 4.5 CEU— 45-hours of noncredit attainment from Old Dominion University for each course—and they will be able to complete the courses online at their own pace and on their own schedule. This opportunity addresses a critical need of teachers who find it difficult to fit professional growth into their busy schedules yet need to do so to keep their teaching license current and advance their salary and position.”

Francis Puchalski, the Director of Programs for Continued Learning in the Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University, said, “We are excited to be able to partner with Editure and to expand our broad offerings for teacher professional education. With this catalog of courses, teachers from around the country will be able to take advantage of this flexible way of growing professionally.”
